Summer nights

Summer hasn’t kick in yet, some people still make use extra blankets. This has been the most weird summer in NYC in the last 8 years, and probably more. Is this global warming or global cooling?

Thursday I went to one of Tufte’s workshop in New York. I had been looking for this opportunity since about one year ago, checking his webpage almost compulsively for open workshops in the NYC area. I have to say it didn’t get an impression on me. Most people seemed happy with the experience, I wasn’t. Not that I totally didn’t like it, but in my opinion it didn’t fullfil my expectations. I would summarize it as too showman-nish. Let me state that I very much like his ideas about presentation of information. However with so much emphasis in content and stripping out unnecessary clutter, I think he should have applied the same principle to this workshop.
As you may notice I did good use of ibuprofen. I think it really helped in the first stages of the inflamation. For this shot I put a flash right behind the empty blister to get some light through the white plastic. For this purpose the blister was angled using a sophisticated AAA battery (rechargable!). Fancy, eh?
Yesterday was the ice, today the compression bandage I am using to easy the pain of my injury. This one was kind of difficult to execute. I wanted a macro shot of the bandage I was wearing, so I had to pose and at the same time get the right focus on the other end of the camera. I am not a contortionist and this turn out to be more difficult than I anticipated.
