Praised by many as the best shrimp in the North Shore (Oahu), this filthy truck rests under the trees in a small rest area at the entrance of Hale’iwa along with two competitors. But really, there is no competition.

There was a lot of excitement about today’s Paella 1st annual Parade at the new Water Taxi beach, at South Street Seaport. Even though we had prepaid tickets, we didn’t eat a rice of paella. The event was heavily oversold, around 900 tickets for 100 paella’s “take away boxes”, some sources say. The take away boxes was ridiculous (see photo), come on people, 25 bucks for that! Even with wine! Only two positive things about this event: there was certainly plenty of wine, and the crowd was given at option to be reimbursed. Hopefully they, who ever organized the whole mess, learned from their mistakes for next year’s Paella Parade.
